NP Bio Pearls

For Nitrate and Phosphate Reduction

NP Bio Pearls are pelletized biodegradable polymers that clear waste from the water, mainly nitrate and phosphate, are converted into bacteria. This keeps the aquarium water natural marine water level.

The new formula NP Reducing Bio Pearls are composed of 100% pure biologically degradable polymers that can be placed in a fluidized filter or mini filter canister. The pellets will allow aerobic growth of bacteria, which consequently consumes nitrate and phosphate. Then the bacteria will use up the carbon from the Bio Pearls, whilst nitrogen and phosphorus are taken from the water as nitrate and phosphate. This conversion of organic Bio Pearls (together with inorganic nitrogen and phosphorus) into microbial biomass is called immobilization. In addition, anaerobic layers will develop, resulting from additional denitrification.

To avoid the sensitive marine animals being unadapted for sharply reducing of NO3 and PO4, we recommend adding NP Bio Pearls in a successful way. For example: Bio Pearls should be added in 200 L aquarium water as follows, aqua water 200 liters add 50 ml every week. Caution-Maintain sufficient water flow through the NP Bio Pearls, to prevent production of hydrogen sulfide gas.

-The use of NP Bio Pearls in marine aquariums must be accompanied by the use of a protein skimmer to achieve the export of bacteria and assimilated nutrients. It is not necessary for the outlet of the filter containing pellets to be positioned near the intake of a protein skimmer, but it is necessary to have a protein skimmer running on the system.

-The use of ozone and UV will negatively affect bacterial recruitment of the Bio Pearls and increase the maturation time of the filter. So we won’t recommend use the NP Bio Pearls with ozone and UV at the same time when cultivating bacteria.
